Additional Areas of Study
日本一本道a不卡免费The American Kinesiology Association describes kinesiology as, “an academic discipline which involves the study of physical activity and its impact on health, society, and quality of life.” Kinesiology might also simply be defined as, “the study of human movement.”
日本一本道a不卡免费Years ago, the common term for the study of physical activity was physical education. This area of study usually focused on training individuals to become physical education teachers. But the term physical education has steadily evolved into the label of kinesiology—a better description of the unanimity in the study of human movement.
日本一本道a不卡免费Generally, the discipline of kinesiology can be divided into three areas or domains—the biophysical domain is concerned with physical activity from the viewpoint of physiology, medicine, and biomechanics; the psychosocial domain focuses on physical activity from the standpoint of psychology; and the sociocultural domain concentrates on physical activity from the perspectives of history, sociology, and philosophy.
While we currently do not offer a major in kinesiology, our courses offer students the opportunity to explore their interest in a specific area of this field of study and to examine their curiosity about physical activity. Oftentimes, students who take kinesiology courses just have a passion for sport. Kinesiology courses might appeal to individuals interested in the following:

PhysicalLY ACTIVE LIFE SKILLS
Essential to the college experience is developing the knowledge and awareness of healthy lifestyles. Because kinesiology is the study of physical activity, our Physically Active Life Skills (PALS) courses can be seen as a foundational component for better understanding and appreciating human movement.
As opposed to the more “traditional” physical activity courses such as basketball, soccer, flag football, etc., our focus is on “lifetime activities.” These are activities or courses that an individual can participate in for the rest of her/his life. These include such courses as Golf, Jogging, Personal Fitness, Tennis, Weight Training, and Yoga, to name a few. The value of these courses is they afford students the opportunity to develop the foundational knowledge and skills that provide the confidence, competency and desire necessary for participation in a specific activity. As a result, participation in these lifetime activities contribute to an active lifestyle and sustained wellness.
