Woodward Scholar ’16, Diana Di Marco, Summer 2016 at Harlaxton College, Grantham, England
日本一本道a不卡免费From the moment when I entered the gates of the breathtaking Harlaxton Manor, I knew my experiences would exceed all of my expectations. My new home greatly resembled Hogwarts from the Harry Potter film. The hallways and rooms were decorated with antique furniture and the classrooms each had breathtaking views to the manor gardens.

For example, both of my professors sat down with me and critiqued my writing, providing me with new ways to improve this skill. In addition, the class environment promoted pertinent and intriguing class discussions, which allowed us to explore different points of view. Learning about the other’s opinions, especially in terms of religion, shed light on many different arguments and ways of thinking about the subject which I had not thought about.

My World Religions professors took it upon themselves to provide us with the most unique fieldtrips available. During our first fieldtrip, we took a train into London, had lunch with a member of the House of Lords, and saw the Queen on her way to the State Opening of Parliament. We were also welcomed in many temples, mosques, churches, and synagogues, which provided us with more insight about the different world religions discussed in our class. In addition, I took advantage of the history-rich opportunities available, as I visited numerous monuments, museums, and buildings. I went to the Palace of Versailles, British Museum, and the city of York. I could not believe that I entered some of the places which I learned about in class at Young Harris College.
Overall, the Woodward Scholarship provided me with the opportunity of a lifetime. If it were not for such a generous gift, I would not have been able to embark on such an a rewarding journey. I will always look back fondly at my time in Harlaxton and will be forever thankful to the faculty who chose me a candidate, as well as the Woodwards for their generous contribution. I am a strong supporter of studying abroad and hopefully one day I can give back to Young Harris College by sponsoring more study abroad programs.
